This high-tech Yale Digital Door Lock, the latest development in home and business security, is now available from the company Yale Security.
A digital door lock uses a digital code instead of a mechanical key to open the lock. While simplifying the action of locking and unlocking, it combines high security with greater convenience than is possible with a traditional mechanical lock.
This can offer real peace of mind to homeowners who want to protect their homes with a simple, convenient and foolproof security system.
It frees you from the need to carry a key to unlock the front door. There’s a choice between the quick and secure electronic key, the iButton or the PIN keypad for a completely key-less solution. As a backup, a secure mechanical key overrides these three options.
Electronic locks have many benefits in different applications. Rather than replacing existing mechanical locks, a landlord can change locks between tenants by simply changing the access code or reprogramming the iButtons. Elderly people can share their codes with relatives and caregivers, simplifying access. Families don’t have to worry about teenagers losing keys, while teenagers just have to remember the code, which is similar to that of cash-card pin numbers.
The easy-to-install digital door lock comes with a mechanical override in case of power failure, as well as an built-in tamper alarm triggered should anyone attempt to damage or force the lock. For added security, the access code and iButtons are easily reprogrammed in the event of loss or a burglary.
Further benefits include automatic locking, automatic opening in the event of a fire (activated at above 60ºC), a system of intelligent sensors that detect burglary, tampering and vandalism, an anti-panic function that automatically unlocks whenever the handle is pressed down from the inside and a low battery indicator and emergency power options.
The key-less electronic door lock from Yale is available from selected Yale Security Point stores. The three models range in price from between R2 499 to R3 999. – Chris Nel     |fw
