I realise there are good reasons for it but there are also plenty of reasons for not doing so. One of the main ones is the destruction of wild animals/living creatures. I heard with great sadness on the radio about the leopard found on Hendrik Potgieter Drive in the west of Johannesburg. Is it any wonder that a beautiful wild animal like this is found on a busy road in a built up area when all around us there are fires burning?
All the wild animals are being chased out of their natural habitat: not only by developers, but also by landowners and misguided people who feel they must burn the veld. Johannesburg and the surrounds are not only ugly in their burnt state at this time of year, the people are also very ugly in their mentality.
