At the end of December last year, Former chief operating officer at the Department of Agriculture Luvuyo Mabombo was appointed CEO of the Perishable Products Export Control Board (PPECB). Mabombo, who has six years of industry experience and government knowledge, assumed his position on 7 January.

Following a vigorous countrywide search, the PPECB board of directors selected him as they believe he’s a born leader who’ll guide the PPECB to improved ways of controlling and certifying SA exports. Educated at the University of the Western Cape, Mabombo obtained a BCom Accounting degree and a Certificate in Public and International Economics at the Economic Policy Research Institute.

He is the first black chief executive of the PPECB since its inception in 1926. – David Steynberg
