In celebration of Health Awareness Month in April, RSA Market Agents donated fresh fruit and vegetables to the Sisters of Charity, Nazareth House, Deansgate Home for the Aged and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
These charities have been RSA’s beneficiaries since 1998 and to date, has donated fresh produce valued at over R300 000. “Everyone has a right to food and it’s part of our duty as responsible corporate citizens to ensure that this right is fulfilled, particularly for those less fortunate than us,” said Jaco Oosthuizen, managing director of RSA. “Being able to give something as basic as this to charities is just another way of ensuring a better and healthier South Africa.” Operating in the Tshwane, Mangaung, eThekwini and Johannesburg fresh produce markets, Market Agents act as commission agents for thousands of local producers selling the full range of fresh produce available. “It gives us great pleasure as a company to be able to reach out to those less fortunate than us,” said Oosthuizen. “To be able to ensure that the children and the aged at these various charities receive a healthy and balanced diet of fresh vegetables and fruits daily makes this an extra special donation.” – Staff reporter
