TAU SA North has expressed their gratitude to Limpopo agriculture MEC Dikeledi Magadzi for her prompt assistance to its members. TAU North chairperson Dries Joubert said immediately acted on a letter TAU send her regarding communication infrastructure in areas such as Ellisras, Koedoesrand, Tom Burk and Groblersbrug. “Some areas have been without Telkom services since August last year and experience daily frustration as they struggle to function without basic technical assistance,” said Joubert. Various district offices of TAU North reported the situation but the complaints went unattended. “Even letters to senior personnel in Telkom’s regional office had little impact,” said Joubert. O ut of sheer desperation TAU wrote the letter to Magadzi. “On Monday 25 February, MTN sales executive for Limpopo Steven Lukhwa visited TAU’s regional offices to find out how would be able to help. He said Magadzi requested MTN to get involved,” said Joubert. Engineers will now be deployed to determine the extent of the network coverage and decide on the appropriate course of action. Lukhwa has been invited to the Union’s provincial general meeting to discuss how MTN plans to assist farmers in the affected areas. – Cornelia du Plooy
