What shall we say to these things?

In all my farming years, I’ve realised that if God is for me, there’s no situation, no element, no problem that’s too big for me to handle.

In Romans 8:31 THE BIBLE SAYS, “WHAT then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” In all my farming years, I’ve realised that if God is for me, there’s no situation, no element, no problem that’s too big for me to handle.
So we need to ensure that God is for us. If He’s on our side, we have nothing at all to fear. And if we’re on His side, we’re in the majority. But how can we ensure this? Simply by obeying the Word of God.

I always call the Bible our agricultural handbook. Every morning before we go to do our work on the farm, we need to hear the instructions from God, our managing director, clearly. If we do that, we can’t fail. The Bible states that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to His purposes and I believe with all my heart that God can turn the wind, bring the rain and turn a marginal crop into a bumper crop. I also believe that we need to share this concept with our workers, our family and our accountants.

Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s. In other words, pay your income tax and your accounts and be good neighbours with the farmers around you. If you have a disagreement, make sure you sort it out as quickly as possible. These are the qualifications you need if you want God to be on your side.
Make sure you treat your spouse and children in a godly manner. Don’t overwork your workers and pay them properly for a fair day’s work. You’ll suddenly see things start changing. The cattle will get fatter, the crops higher and prices will change.
Some of you reading this might think this is far-fetched. It’s not. It’s an absolute fact. I’ve experienced it year in and year out for many years.

I want to be quite honest and admit that I’ve also had many tests and fiery trials, some of which I wouldn’t wish on any of you reading this article. However, through these, God has worked miraculously, simply because if He is for us, there’s no-one who can stand against us. Most of all, don’t be ashamed to tell those in your community who your source of strength is. There’s a scripture in Romans 1:16 which says, “I’m not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation for those who believe – first the Jew and then the gentile.” So to recap, we need to remember that our God is on our side and, more to the point, if we are on His side then there’s nothing in the world that we can’t handle.
