Two new SA records at National Sussex Sale

Bloemfontein – Two new South African records were set at the 2016 Sussex National Sale held on 18 August.

Huntersvlei Sussex Stud, Viljoenskroon, sold the highest-priced bull (JRE 13 0156) to Platdrif Sussex Stud, Worcester, for a new South African record price of R200 000.

The previous record was R190 000. Eversar Sussex Stud of Petrus Steyn, sold the highest-priced cow (CN 08 0072) to the Blema Ba Kan Sussex Stud, Kroonstad, for a new South African record price of R85 000.

The previous record was R52 000.

A total of 15 bulls, 14 female animals and seven calves were on offer, and turnover was R978 200.

The sale was conducted by Vleissentraal Bloemfontein, with Ian Grobbelaar as the auctioneer.
