Foal food

Soundness certificates

Vets call it a "pre-purchase certificate" - a soundness certificate is like a roadworthy for horses. After spending a lot of money on a new horse, the last thing you need is for it to sit in a stable consuming expensive hay and concentrate because it can't be ridden. A pre-purchase certificate is a legal document, signed by a registered veterinarian, which certifies that a full examination of an identified horse has taken place.

Zulu chicken with red-hot chillies

If you were to Google "Chicken peri-peri" you would get 10 million hits for something the Americans insist on calling "African Chicken". The way out of this muddling of a great East Coast tradition by the global cooking bandits is to vote with your skottel and make this magnificent meal right now. Assuming, of course, that like most red-blooded South Africans, chillies in huge quantities are your idea of good time.

Chicken and roast butternut lasagne.

There's a lot of good stuff in this amazing meal - the vooma from the garlicky chicken, great flavour from the roasted vegetables and a spot of carbo-loading for massive on-demand energy from the pasta. Where there’s a will, there’s a way

I have just returned from Israel- my wife and I went for a two-week break to visit the Holy Land. Part of our visit was spent in the Negev Desert in the southern part of Israel where I saw some amazing miracles take place. I saw those farmers planting wheat and cereal crops literally into sand dunes.
