Land clashes in KZN appear to be on the rise

The KwaZulu-Natal Agricultural Union has blamed provincial land departments’ lack of decisive action and clear communication on land issues as a significant reason for increasing land dispute-related clashes in the province.

Kwanalu added that it wanted to see these departments taking an unbiased and effective approach to dealing with aspects such as land and labour tenant claims. A Dundee farmer wanted the Department of Land Reform to be held accountable for often deliberately creating false expectations among claimants.
