Utrecht/Wakkerstroom – The Grassfields Beef production sale was held on 2 July at the Groenvlei auction pens. The most expensive bull was sold for R45 000 to Jan-Hendrik van der Merwe of Bethal. The second- highest price was paid for two bulls sold for R38 000 each, one to Frederik Coetzer of Pongola and the other to Jan-Hendrik van der Merwe of Bethal. Bulls achieved an average price of R30 000. Cows achieved an average price of R8 258 and heifers averaged R9 203. The sale was hosted by Vleissentraal Ermelo and KZN, with Paul Botha as the auctioneer.
