The cans and blankets were donated by Monsanto clients from across the country, and went to Solidarity Helping Hand in Pretoria and Metro Evangelical Services (MES) in Kempton Park.
MES programme director Lilly Franks said the donation was extremely welcome as the organisation housed 30 homeless people a night and also ran a daily feeding scheme
Helping Hand’s Riaan du Plooy said the charity focuses on distributing food and other supplies to needy areas. “We see it as our responsibility to distribute food rather than competing with community workers who are already doing wonderful work on ground level.”
