Cape of snow storms

Heavy snow falls that occurred in the Central Karoo region during a recent cold front in the Western Cape trapped farmers, farm workers and livestock on 10 farms located along the Nuweveld mountains close to Beaufort-West.

The farms were completely cut off from their closest town and according to a representative of the local farmer’s association, emergency supplies had to be airlifted to the farms. “The snowfall was about one meter deep on some of the farms and two days after the snow stopped falling farmers were still unable to leave their farms.
