DAFF denies that OBP vaccines are faulty

Agricultural minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson has left farmers baffled after denying that there was ever a question over the efficacy of Onderstepoort Biological Products (OBP) vaccines.

This despite investigations that were commissioned by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fishers (DAFF) last year after Rift Valley Fever (RVF) vaccines failed. In responding to a question asked in parliament about OBP vaccines, Joemat-Pettersson denied that any investigation into the vaccines was necessary as the vaccines were “world class”.
