FPA’s feeling ‘twitchy’ over this season’s fire risk

Fire Protection Associations in KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga are anticipating a challenging fire-fighting season this year.

High fuel loads coupled with dry conditions have dramatically increased the risk of wildfires in the two provinces. Ground and aerial fire-fighting resources have been extensively deployed throughout the two provinces. In Mpumalanga, farm dams are on average at 20% of their potential capacity.
