Representatives of Agri Wes Cape started talks with union representatives claiming to represent strikers at De Doorns.
According to Carl Opperman, the CEO of Agri Wes Cape the order of proceedings was discussed with representatives and was accepted by all.

“After the first break union representatives made threats to producer representatives which put their lives and safety in grave danger. These threats have been communicated to the police,” Opperman said. Agri Wes Cape asked all farm workers to return to work on Monday and to resume direct talks with their employers. “It is of the utmost importance that good relationships that exist between workers and producers in the Hex River Valley, continue as before,” Opperman said.
