Dow AgroSciences denies import of 2,4 D resistant maize

Commodity clearance has been granted for Enlist, a 2,4 D tolerant maize, yet the product has yet to be approved in the United States (US).

Furthermore Dow AgroSciences, who produces Enlist, said that they had no knowledge of the products registration in SA or that there were plans of it being marketed here. Despite the fact that the agricultural department’s Genetically Modified Organisms decision making body has given the green light for the importation of Enlist, Dow AgroSciences said that they doubted that it would be available in SA soon.
