According to Colonel Leonard Hlathi, the body was found by a family friend of the deceased when the he failed to open the farm gate for his workers to enter. The farmer’s name has not yet been released.
The family friend opened the gate with a spare key and noticed the sliding door was off its rails. He went into the house and found the farmer in one of the bedrooms with a plastic bag over his face.
“He did not have any other visible injuries, but an autopsy will be done to determine the exact details of his death,” said Hlathi.
The farmer’s firearm is missing and police are still trying to ascertain what other possessions may have been stolen. No suspects have been arrested yet.
