Eskom on track to have nature reserve proclaimed on its land

The Wildlands Conservation Trust has been tasked by national electricity provider, Eskom, to help it establish a 9 000 hectare nature reserve at its hydro-electric Ingula Pumped Storage Project straddling the KwaZulu-Natal/Free State provincial boundary near Van Reenen’s Pass.

Both the Ingula project and the nature reserve are expected to fully functional by 2013. Eskom is aiming to establish the nature reserve in line with the Department of Environmental Affairs’ Biodiversity Stewardship Programme.
