Farm workers injured in Wellington

At around 8.30pm on 19 February, a truck carrying workers from the farm High Fountain to Wellington crashed on Haaskraalpad. One person died on the scene.

According to the driver of the truck, he lost control of the vehicle and swerved into trees growing alongside the dirt road.

In a press release the Berg River Table Grape Association said 22 people were taken to hospital. Of these, 11 have been discharged to date (21 February). The truck was roadworthy and not overloaded, and the driver had a valid licence, added the association.
