Pecan industry supports Cape Parrot conservation initiatives

South Africa’s commercial pecan production industry would like to support Cape Parrot (Poicephalus robustus) conservation efforts.

This is despite the fact that Cape Parrots are known to feed in pecan orchards when their natural foods in indigenous afromontane mistbelt forests becomes scarce. There are estimated to be less than 1 600 individuals of SA’s only endemic parrot species left in the wild.
