Today’s poultry vets are much more than just ‘chicken docters’, said Nigel Horrox, vice president of the WVPA, in his opening speech.

They are being increasingly seen and used as sources of trusted and independent professional and technical advice in areas such as health, biosecurity, animal welfare, vaccination, product control and nutrition.

As a result, the conference covers issues ranging from specific poultry diseases, such as avian influenza, to animal welfare and ways to boost village chicken production.

The conference runs from 7 to 11 September 2015.
