Sheep scab campaign to kick start in N Cape

Organised agriculture has welcomed the Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development’s Veterinary Services’ plan to launch the sheep scab campaign.

Agri Northern Cape president and sheep farmer near Nieuwoudville said organised agriculture was pleased by the department’s initiative. Van Wyk said every year there was about 1 to 2 outbreaks which costs farmers a lot of money. “These outbreaks normally occur in the same areas, Namaqua, Karoo Highland and Hantam,” said van Wyk.
