The 2017 winter grain production manual will be available at branches of the Kaap-Agri en Overberg-Agri agribusinesses. It will also be available at the ARC’s Small Grain Institute in Bethlehem.
The summer grain production manual will be available at the following agribusinesses: VKB, GWK, OVK and Senwes.
The manuals contain the most recent research on cultivation, cultivar evaluation, yields and quality, and are available in Afrikaans and English.
Spokesperson for the Small Grain Institute, Elri Burger, said that the manuals also included, amongst others, information on controlling insects, pests and diseases.
“These manuals afford the South African grain producers the opportunity to make informed decisions based on sound information. Planting periods, plant density and disease resistance, plant nutrition and general wheat production are but a few of the topics contained in the manual”, Burger said.
Grain producers interested in obtaining copies of the manuals can phone Eveline Mofokeng on (058) 307 3400.
The manuals are also available in CD format, and copies will also be available at the ARC’s Small Grain Institute’s exhibition at the Nampo Farmers Day from 16 to 19 May 2017.
