Farmers from various regions of the Western Cape donated feed to Upington and Vryburg farmers in the Northern Cape. But up until now it was unclear how the feed would be transported to the affected farmers.

The train service will be provided by TFR at no cost to the farmers, and the normal running of trains will not be interrupted.

It will see TFR delivering a total of 17 100 bales, 200 bags and 210t of loose animal feed.

Loading commenced on 21 February from three sites in Caledon, Malmesbury and Worcester in the Western Cape. The first consignment will arrive in Vryburg on 3 March for off-loading. The operation will be completed by the end of March.
