Foton South Africa has expanded its local commercial vehicle line-up with the launch of the new Miler Lite range and the Auman 560 6×4 Prime Mover.

“Our Miler Lite can be operated with a standard Code 8 driving licence, reaching a broader range of buyers,” Marius Smal, CEO of Foton South Africa, told Farmer’s Weekly at the launch.

The Miler Lite enters the light-duty market with a focus on delivery and transport applications. Powered by a 2ℓ turbo-diesel engine, it delivers 92kW of power and 320Nm of torque, and drive is sent through a manual transmission using ZF components.

Foton offers the Miler Lite in standard and higher-spec derivatives, both of which feature hydraulic disc front brakes, drum rear brakes, and leaf spring suspension.

The truck has a rated mass of 3 495kg and a load weight rating of 1 645kg. A braked towing capacity of 1t adds further versatility for transport applications.

The higher-spec derivative adds air-conditioning and dual airbags, while standard equipment across the range includes electric windows, Bluetooth connectivity, remote central locking, and daytime running lights.

Pricing starts at R309 900 for the standard model and increases to R339 900 for the higher-spec derivative, while both come with a five-year/200 000km warranty.

“For farmers looking for an all-purpose workhorse, this is a great option because of its volumetric size and the 1,6t payload,” Smal said.

Foton also showcased the new Auman 560 6×4 Prime Mover, aimed at the long-haul freight market.

The heavy-duty model is powered by a 12,9ℓ six-cylinder engine delivering 412kW of power and 2 600Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 12-speed ZF TraXon automated manual transmission.

According to Foton, the Auman range will be offered in both leaf spring and air suspension options. Other features include ABS brakes, electronic stability control, and ZF Intarder braking assistance.

South African pricing for the Auman 560 is yet to be confirmed, but is expected to become locally available by the end of July.

The company said the new additions form part of its strategy to expand its commercial vehicle offering in South Africa across light- and heavy-duty transport segments.
