At last, an elegant, practical alternative to the time-tested Swedish-made Tirfor portable cable-winch. The Tirfor outperforms it in all respects, but the Tirfor is cumbersome, dirty and tiring to use.

The PullzAll is a lightweight, electric-winch tool that can lift or pull up to 454kg. It has been developed and manufactured by Warn Works in the US and runs on either 220VAC or 24VDC, depending on the model. In the AC model, the power cable is plugged in via an extension cord, while the DC model is battery-powered. Lightweight, at around 8,2kg and portable, the cordless PullzAll winch (part number 685005) is powered by a 24V rechargeable NiMH battery pack.

The tool comes supplied with a charger and spare battery. The reach is about 5m of strong 7/32in wire. A variable speed control ensures precision-load placement. A convenient forward/reverse switch allows for precision reeling in and out. An electronic load-limiter prevents damage to the unit if it’s subjected to a load beyond its rated capacity. An LED indicator provides visual feedback to the operator. It’s furthermore fitted with a dynamic brake.

The PullzAll AC-corded version (part number 685000) is identical in most specifications and performance, except it has an induction AC motor and a short-power cord that can be plugged into an extension-cord plug. weighs just on 6kg. The PullzAll winch will soon be available from Builders Warehouse branches nationwide. The 220VAC model is expected to sell for around R4 000 and the cordless 12VDC battery model is expected to sell for about R6 000. – Chris Nel Contact Auriel Mitchley on (011) 889 0796 or e-mail [email protected].
