Pretoria-based LVP DISTRIBUTORS
(AFRICA) offers a range of six professional vacuum-packing machines for applications ranging from occasional home use to heavy duty commercial use. The La.va range is made in Germany and its products come with a two-year warranty.
The V500 is ideal for the large restaurant or commercial kitchen which needs to vacuum-pack bags of up to 60cm wide. It has an aluminium case and is designed for daily use. It removes air from a medium-sized bag (200mm x 300mm) in about five seconds.

The built-in vacuum gauge accurately records the vacuum inside the bag or container. The unit is fitted with a variable vacuum valve, making it possible to pack softer food items quickly and easily. It has a fully automatic mode as well as a manual mode.
The V100 is the simplest model in the range and features manual sealing only. It’s ideal for the domestic user who doesn’t need to vacuum-pack large quantities in one session. It accommodates sizes up to 300mm wide and removes air from a medium-sized bag (200mm x 300mm) in about 10 seconds. The V100 has a vacuum indicator light which shows when full vacuum is reached. The bag is then heat-sealed by manually pressing a switch. The sealing process takes about five seconds. All La.va vacuum-packing machines can also be used with acrylic and stainless steel vacuum containers with sealable lids, using the vacuum pump attachment supplied. The containers are made in Germany and can be used in the fridge, freezer, microwave and dishwasher.

A BED FIT FOR A KING
So many benefits and still affordable? Read about the pet bed that’s ahead of all the rest. The locally made Petzbed health mattress is a step ahead of all others on the market, but is less expensive. It is made of a very light, special non-absorbent Prima-fill fibre, which is non-allergenic and bacteria-free. It’s widely used in veterinary surgeries for therapeutic purposes.

Petzbed has many more benefits than regular pet beds or mattresses. Firstly, it’s hygienic, eliminates pet odours and doesn’t support flea breeding. It helps prevent and combat eczema and skin problems, eases arthritic aches and pains and is warm in winter and cool in summer. It has a water-resistant base and retains its shape and resilience, requiring only an occasional shake to puff it up. Petzbed can be used indoors or outdoors and fits into kennels, baskets and even a car. To clean, hang it upside down on the washing line, hose down and allow to drip-dry. It comes in six sizes from 600mm x 600mm to 1 500mm x 1 200mm and will cost between R125 and R525. Buy it online at www.petzbed.co.za for an additional R25 (postage, packaging and handling). – Chris Nel |fw
