A trade delegation from North Dakota in the US visited this year’s Nampo Harvest Day, led by Lieutenant Governor Jack Dalrymple. Dalrymple said the Harvest day construction and stands were the best he’s seen. He said the exhibitions compared superbly with the biggest show of agricultural implements and machinery in the US, the Big Iron Farm Show in North Dakota. “We’re honoured to be visiting South Africa and are committed to strengthening existing ties and to developing new partnerships, especially in the agricultural sector,” he said. “Our delegation has met with potential customers and distributors.”
According to Dalrymple, the US is the second biggest portfolio investor in South Africa, investing US,6 billion (R54,9 billion). It’s the second largest source of foreign direct investment in South Africa, at about ,6 billion (R429,4 billion). “The US has been the third largest source of South African imports in the last three years,” he explained. “North Dakota’s exports to your country have increased 48% since 2004. This includes products such as processed foods, plastic, rubber and agricultural equipment.”
