Omnia Fertiliser recently launched its upgraded Chemtech laboratory in Sasolburg. The hi-tech lab specialises in the analysis of soil, leaf sap and irrigation water. Farmers can send samples in, which will be tested and appropriate fertilisation recommendations will be made. According to Omnia’s managing director, Trevor Grant, the lab is the only one of its kind in South Africa and positions the company at the forefront of the industry. “We are very excited about this new laboratory as our aim is to maximise the financial profitability of the producer on the land,” he said. The launch, attended by the mayor of Sasolburg as well as Omnia employees, the media and other guests, included a tour of the facilities and a lunch. – Gwenda van Zyl
