Pannar recently marked its 50th anniversary of seed distribution in the ballroom of the Wanderers Club in Johannesburg.

About 180 guests attended what proved to be a stylish celebration with outstanding entertainment, good food and other refreshments. T he story of Pannar’s success began some 50 years ago on Oakleigh Farm near Greytown in KwaZulu-Natal, when Brian Corbishley and the late Bill Wall registered a small maize seed company with their first proprietary maize hybrids being registered in 1967.

Little did the founders know that the company would one day become the biggest seed group in Africa and a respected roleplayer in the international seed market. oday, Pannar’s horizons extend well beyond South with marketing activities across the globe. It has established companies in nine African countries, as well as in Europe, Argentina and the US. nd as it was half a century ago, the company remains committed to quality, excellence and providing clients with outstanding cultivars. – Peter Hittersay
