Unemployed graduates must be given land

As part of addressing South Africa’s high unemployment, government should give farms to agricultural technicians who are not working.

We have many farms being given to people who don’t have a passion for, or understanding of, the agricultural sector, which is the backbone of the economy of our country. Let’s get qualified people onto resettlement and restitution land to till the soil. They will ensure food security and a succession plan. Many farms have collapsed due to lack of basic farming skills.

Why can’t we use the expertise in the agricultural sector? How many farms has government bought and they remain unused?
Our government preaches food security yet it does not strengthen human capital in the sector. I feel that we could address problems in our society if government commits itself to assist graduates from agricultural colleges.
