Farmer’s Weekly will bring together three experienced breeders of Boer Goats, Kalahari Reds and Savannas for its next Breed Focus Webinar to share their knowledge and experience of farming with these breeds.
The discussion, led by Octavia Spandiel, will look at the characteristics of each breed, what the breeders have learnt through years of selection and management, and the practical considerations farmers should take into account when establishing or improving a goat herd.

Meet the panellists
Albie Horn | Kalahari Red
Horn is a Kalahari Red stud breeder and exporter from Kuruman in the Northern Cape. He farms under the Albian Stud name and has a background in animal breeding and genetics, small-stock science and reproduction.
Andrew Roberts | Savanna
Roberts farms with his wife, Jumari, at Maize Valley Farms near Hoopstad in the Free State. They breed Savannas, Kalahari Reds and Boer Goats, and also farm Brangus cattle. Their Savanna stud has produced notable results, including the 2025 World Champion Savanna ram and Reserve World Champion ewe.
Johnny Henderson | Boer Goat
Henderson has been involved in Boer Goat breeding for most of his life. He served on the SABGBA board for 26 years, and was involved in embryo flushing in Texas from 1995 to 2003. He also co-founded Boer Brothers International (BBI) and has gained international experience through judging and courses around the world.
