The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) has released a statement in response to the public protector’s 2013 report on allegations of an irregular awarding of a tender to Sekunjalo Marine Services Consortium.

In the statement, DAFF director-general Edith Vries says that the public protector “has no substantive grounds for disciplinary action” against minister Tina Joemat-Pettersson.

“The report acknowledges that the minister acted correctly in instructing the department to end a problematic tender by handing the ships to the Navy,” said Vries. – Staff reporter
