Mandatory grants are paid back to companies on their timeous submission of a complete annual Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Annual Training Report (ATR). A mandatory grant is 50% of the skills development levy a company has paid to SARS.

The WSP is a document describing the skills needs of a company’s staff and the training plans management wishes to implement.
