Heidelberg has SA’s largest pumpkin

A massive 483,6kg pumpkin grown by Pinkie Swart from Heidelberg, won him the title for the largest pumpkin grown in South Africa for the second year in a row.

Last year Swart broke the South African record with a 497,5kg pumpkin, 556,5kg less than the 1 054kg world record set in October 2014 by Beni Meier from Switzerland.

Karel Robertson came in a close second with a 474,5kg pumpkin. Johan du Plessis was in third place with a 456,5 kg pumpkin.
