Map to protect birds from wind energy installations welcomed

An Avian Wind Farm Sensitivity Map has been welcomed by South Africa’s Wind Energy Association.

The map, jointly designed by the Endangered Wildlife Trust and BirdLife SA, aims to help wind energy farm developers minimise the risk of birds flying into the massive wind turbines. The SA government wants wind turbines to be generating 9 200 MW of renewable energy by 2030.
