R189 million profit for OVK through diversification

The OVK agribusiness group declared a net profit of R189 million before tax for the financial year that ended on 28 February 2017.

According to OVK managing director Stéfan Oberholzer, this resulted in a net profit increase of 4,81% before tax and after payment of R18,9 million loyalty discounts.

“Shareholders were rewarded with dividends and loyalty scheme payouts amounting to R55 million,” said Oberholzer.

OVK includes a retail network in the eastern Free State, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape as well as nationwide fibre and livestock services. This diverse geographic

This diverse geographic distribution, as well as diversification of the business spread risk, contributed to the successes reported.
