To top this, the welfare organisation selected by each finalist received a donation of R60 000 from Senwes. The draw was held at the Goldfields Casino in Welkom and was the highlight of the competition for which producers who had been granted credit with Senwes Credit for the 2011/2012 summer production season qualified. During the function, finalists each received an opportunity to draw a number, which determined the sequence in which their envelopes containing the value of their prize would be selected. The results of the draw were as follows:

R500 000 – Charlie Pearson from Vaalharts
R250 000 – Barend de Lange from Dealesville
R125 000 – George Truter from Bloemfontein
R75 000 – Uys van Heerden from Odendaalsrus
R50 000 – Ben Vosloo from Koppies

The organisations that each received a donation of R60 000 were the Juanita Taljaard Trust Fund in Vaalharts, the Dealesville Benefit Fund, the President Kruger Children’s Home in Reddersburg, Mev. President Steyn Home in Odendaalsrus and the DR Church Weltevreden in Koppies. According to representatives from the respective organisations the money will be spent on renovation projects, welfare projects and to redeem operating costs.

“The Win A Million Competition not only ensured that five valued Senwes clients were winners again this year, but also that five worthy organisations from the community we serve benefited. The competition enables us to give something back to customers who support us regularly, and it was an excellent idea to expand it three years ago so that the need in communities can be addressed in this way,” said Francois Strydom, managing director, after the draw.

The summer production draw competition for next year was announced at the event. All agricultural producers who qualify for credit with Senwes for the 2012 summer production season and who have taken up at least R100 000 on or before 31 January 2013, automatically qualify for participation in the competition.
