DA leader visits Limpopo water project

During a visit to Limpopo, DA leader Helen Zille took time to meet farmer Koos van Amstel, who provides water for a local community in Blouberg, a rural, mostly agricultural area between Alldays and Lephalale.

Before Van Amstel came to their aid, the community had taps and the necessary infrastructure – but no water. Zille saw how Van Amstel drew water from his borehole and carted it to the community daily in a water truck sponsored by the DA. “It shows the sprit of rural Limpopo, where people still care for one another,” she said.

“But we must remind people that their vote carries the power. “If you vote for a party that doesn’t deliver the promised and sorely needed services, you get the governance that you deserve.” Zille continued her conversation with farmers at a function in Polokwane, where she also spoke to local leaders and businessmen. “It’s vital that politicians see the important impact that land reform and poverty had on the food security in our province,” said Lephalale councillor and farmer Jan van Niekerk.
