Faith-based farming by Angus Buchan
Farmer Angus Buchan's story was first portrayed in his book Faith Like Potatoes, and then more recently in the locally produced film of the same name. His farm outside Greytown, KZN, recently hosted the Mighty Men's Conference where 7 000 men, many of whom are farmers, spent a weekend listening to him, and where he shared his plan to go to Australia to pray for relief from that country's drought.

Poor man’s lucerne – patience is richly rewarded
Naturally exuberant farmer Tabs Fox of Weltevreden farm in Ficksburg is so excited about the success he has achieved with sericia lespedeza - commonly referred to as poor man's lucerne - that he has increased the area he plants to this perennial legume from 20ha to over 100ha in five years. Because of its hardy nature, it's a must plant crop for frost- and drought-prone areas.

Business booming for New Holland SA
A YEAR HAS PASSED since the announcement at the 2006 Nampo Agricultural Trade show of Invicta Holdings' acquisition of the South African New Holland agricultural machinery franchise. Since then, despite the negative effect of the drought, the company has announced that business is booming.
