This is the third year that Case IH and AGRICON have sponsored the prize awarded by the Zimbabwe Agricultural Society (ZAS) at the Harare Agricultural Show.

The ZAS judged the quality of the produce displayed at the show and visited the farm to assess the fields, the produce and the overall operation of the winner’s homestead.

At the handover ceremony at the winner’s farm, Neville Sealy, General Manager of AGRICON said, “We try to do as much as possible to support small-scale and commercial farmers like Ms Makoti. With this sponsorship we hope to raise awareness of how mechanisation can help farmers in Zimbabwe.”

Makoti is a small scale farmer who grows maize, tomatoes and potatoes and also farms cows and chickens on her 5ha holding.

On receiving the award she said, “We feel honoured and have been uplifted by the award and we are very grateful for this opportunity. With the new tractor we will be able to do more and increase the area we farm.”
