Minister’s award garners mixed reactions

There have been mixed reactions from organised agriculture over an award bestowed on Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Tina Joemat-Pettersson, by the French government.

According to Joemat-Pettersson’s Ministry, her French counterpart awarded her the Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite Agricole, or Knight of the National Order of Agricultural Merit, for her services rendered to agriculture. While AFASA supported the award, TAU SA and Agri SA were sceptical of Joemat-Pettersson’s being deserving of it.
