- Case IH Steiger
Case IH showcased its expanded Steiger range at Nampo with the new Steiger 595 (444kW) and Steiger 645 (481kW), reinforcing its position in the ultra-high-horsepower segment.
Long associated with brute pulling power and traction, the Steiger line-up includes both wheeled and Quadtrac track models and continues to evolve through ongoing engineering refinement and farmer feedback.
The design focuses on efficient power transfer, with drivetrain and chassis engineering aimed at maximising traction in demanding field conditions. A key feature remains its central drawbar configuration, which distributes pulling force through the middle of the tractor for improved weight balance and reduced slip.
The range also integrates advanced onboard and remote data systems, giving producers detailed operational insights to support increasingly precise, data-driven farming decisions.

- Case IH Magnum series
The updated Magnum range builds on Case IH’s long-standing reputation for high-horsepower tractors by combining increased power, improved fuel efficiency, and greater operator comfort.
Power outputs now range from 197kW to 301kW, with horsepower increases across the line-up, while new suspension systems and tyre configurations improve traction and reduce wheel slip.
The tractors integrate fully with the Case IH FieldOps precision farming platform and feature hydraulic flow rates of 328ℓ/min, with six rear SCVs as standard, enabling them to handle large modern implements efficiently.
Updated PowerDrive transmissions and improved drivetrain efficiency have also reduced fuel consumption, with field tests showing significantly lower diesel use under heavy ripping conditions.
- Claas Xerion 12.650 Terra Trac
The Xerion 12.650 Terra Trac is the most powerful tractor currently available with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), producing 480kW from a Mercedes-Benz OM473 six-cylinder engine. Maximum torque of approximately 3 100Nm arrives at just 1 300rpm, and oil change intervals run to 1 000 hours.
The CMATIC CVT is paired with a CCLS hydraulic system delivering 530ℓ/minute and a rear lift capacity exceeding 11t, with full ISOBUS and Power Beyond connectivity as standard. The Terra Trac configuration replaces conventional wheels with four rubber track units across two steered axles, reducing soil pressure by around 50% while keeping the 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution intact.
The CEMOS system guides the operator through optimal ballast, transmission, and implement settings, and the CEMIS 1200 terminal with integrated SAT 900 GNSS handles precision farming applications.
The Xerion 12.650 Terra Trac won the Tractor of the Year HighPower award at the 2023 Agritechnica trade fair in Hannover, Germany.
- Deutz-Fahr 9340 TTV Warrior
The 9340 TTV Warrior tops the Deutz-Fahr Series 9 range, producing 247kW from a 7,78ℓ six-cylinder twin-turbocharged Stage V engine. Torque peaks at 1 372Nm, 90% of which is available from just 1 000rpm for consistent performance at low working speeds.
Power is delivered through the TMT 32 CVT, offering stepless speed control from 0,02km/hour to 60km/hour. The load-sensing hydraulic system produces 210ℓ/minute across up to eight proportionally controlled remote valves, six at the rear and two at the front, with a rear lift capacity of 12 000kg. Rear power take-off (PTO) speeds are 540 ECO, 1 000, and 1 000 ECO, with 1 000 and 1 000 ECO also available at the front.
The Warrior edition adds a choice of four special colour schemes, a dedicated LED lighting package, Warrior comfort seat, automatic climate control, and a DAB audio system. The pneumatically suspended MaxiVision 2 cab is isolated from the engine compartment, keeping interior noise to a maximum of 69dB.
- John Deere 8R/8RX series
John Deere added six new models to its 8 Series tractors in February, filling the gap between traditional row-crop tractors and four-wheel drive platforms such as the John Deere 9R.
Powered by the 13,6ℓ JD14 engine, the flagship 540 models deliver up to 594hp (443kW), with Intelligent Power Management boosting output to 634hp (473kW) under load.
The tractors feature John Deere’s new eAutoPowr electric variable transmission, designed to improve power transfer and fuel efficiency, while hydraulic flow of up to 418ℓ/minute allows them to handle larger, more demanding implements.
- Lovol TN3004
The TN3004 is the flagship of Lovol’s TN Series, producing 300hp (223kW) from a Weichai WP10H 9,5ℓ six-cylinder engine with maximum torque of 1 375Nm. Emission compliance meets Stage IIIA standards, and the 600ℓ fuel tank is sized for extended working days in large-scale operations.
The transmission combines power reversing with a Power Hi-Lo system across 18 forward and nine reverse gears, with a speed range of 3,3km/hour to 40km/hour. Four-wheel drive engagement is electronically controlled, the differential lock is electro-hydraulic, and wet multi-disc brakes are fitted.
PTO options are 540rpm and 1 000rpm on a 21-spline shaft, with an eight-spline option also available. Electronic control manages the rear linkage, which lifts in excess of 8 600kg. The hydraulic system runs five multiway valves with a pump flow rate of 200ℓ/minute.
The TN3004 runs on dual rear wheels as standard on 650/85R38 tyres, and the machine has a structural weight of 10 000kg with a total unladen weight of 10 840kg.
- New Holland Genesis T8
New Holland has upgraded its Genesis T8 range, boosting power, efficiency, and operator comfort. The series, covering the T8.325 to T8.440, now delivers 195kW to 297kW of power, about 5% more than before, for heavier tillage, planting, and transport work.
Farmers can choose between the Ultra Command powershift or Auto Command CVT, depending on whether they prioritise direct pulling power or smoother, more fuel-efficient operation.
Hydraulic capacity has been increased to 328ℓ/minute with six rear remotes, and dual IntelliView 12 screens, cab suspension, and integrated telematics improve comfort, control, and machine monitoring.
- New Holland T9
New Holland’s upgraded T9 range combines higher power outputs with improved efficiency, enhanced hydraulics, and advanced precision farming technology for large-scale operations.
The six new PLM Intelligence models – the T9.470, T9.520, T9.580, T9.615, T9.655, and T9.700 – deliver between 312kW and 474kW of power and are designed to handle larger implements with greater productivity and reduced fuel use.
The tractors also feature enhanced operator comfort, improved traction management, and fully integrated PLM Intelligence systems, which New Holland says make the T9 its most advanced four-wheel drive tractor range to date.
- Valtra S Series
The sixth-generation S Series spans from the S280 at 209kW to the S416 at 313kW, with the S296, S324, S352, and S390 filling out the range. All are powered by an 8,4ℓ AGCO Power six-cylinder engine delivering 5% more power and 9% more torque compared with the previous generation.
Standard hydraulic output is 200ℓ/minute through a load-sensing pump, with an Eco mode engaging an additional gear pump to reach a combined 280ℓ/minute at reduced engine speed. A four-speed PTO is available at both front and rear, and a boost function activates automatically when hydraulic or PTO demand exceeds 30kW or ground speed tops 18km/hour. On the S416, full rated power is available at all times without any load condition required.
TwinTrac reverse drive comes standard across the range, allowing full rear implement operation from a secondary rear-facing station and cutting time and fuel use compared with conventional forward working.
The SmartTouch armrest manages transmission, hydraulics, and ground speed from a single control interface.
- Zoomlion tractors
Zoomlion used this year’s Nampo to introduce its DV3504, which it claims is South Africa’s first commercially launched hybrid tractor, marking its expansion into the local agricultural market.
The 350hp (261kW) machine combines a diesel engine with electric drive assistance to improve torque and responsiveness and reduce fuel use by between 20% and 30%. It is equipped with an intelligent electric drive system and 10C high-rate battery technology, while also offering 8 800kg lifting capacity, more than 119kN of traction, and hydraulic flow rates of up to 227ℓ/minute for high-demand implements.
Zoomlion plans to introduce the larger 700hp (522kW) DC7004 hybrid tractor to South Africa next year. The company is building its footprint through a dealership model and local support network, positioning itself on lower-cost, technology-rich equipment backed by strong warranties and rapid parts supply.
