Omnia sampled three production zones across the field and measured plant-available water in the soil profile. This gave the producer a clear view of what the soil could realistically support before making the next planting decision.
In another soya bean investigation, the crop was underperforming, but regular soil analysis didn’t show a clear nutrient deficiency. A nematode analysis was done through OmniBio®, which indicated high levels of plant-parasitic nematodes in both the soil and root samples.
The reason for the underperformance wasn’t due to a soil chemical-related matter, but rather because of a biological constraint that was reducing the yield.

- Soil data supports planting decisions
A producer had harvested soya beans and needed to decide whether there was enough soil water available to plant wheat.
The data: Omnia measured plant-available water across three production zones. The soil profile was at 64% to 72% of total field water capacity, with a water shortage of between 44mm and 57mm.
The recommendation: planting wheat carried risk, as the soil wasn’t at full water capacity, despite recent rainfall.
- Soil biology reveals hidden pressure
A soya bean field was underperforming, but routine soil analysis didn’t show a clear nutrient deficiency.
The data: OmniBio® nematode analysis identified high levels of plant-parasitic nematodes, including 1 162 plant-parasitic nematodes in the soil sample.
The recommendation: the producer needed to address the biological pressure affecting root performance, rather than simply adjusting nutrient inputs.
- Root-level insight explains crop stress
The crop was struggling, even though the routine soil results appeared acceptable.
The data: root-knot nematodes were identified in the soil and root samples. These nematodes can obstruct the plant’s vascular system.
The recommendation: focus on root health and soil biology as part of the production plan, because nutrient availability only matters if the plant can access it.
