I received a call from a Farmer’s Weekly reader in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands to design an upmarket lodge developnment. After browsing through my many conceptual sketches and consulting with the client and his family, I formulated a proposal.
It may sound obvious but it needs emphasising: when spending large sums of money on a building project, all aspects and financing must be carefully planned.

This ambitious and extensive project is no exception; it requires an exclusive lodge development that will serve and accommodate bikers, hikers, walkers, runners, horse riders and fishermen. Most importantly, it must attract and accommodate groups of young nature enthusiasts, eager to learn about the environment and how to preserve it.

The layout alongside shows some of the many functional activity compartments envisaged. The accommodation would be a mix of both non-catering and self-catering accommodation, and single and double sleeper units. The building will be perched on the side of a rocky hillside, with magnificent views of the green hills and valleys of KZN, stretching as far as the eye can see.

I would certainly book there, when the time comes.
