All wrapped up!

Jonno gives FWSA readers a special gift for Christmas – a basic home design.

All wrapped up!

Well folks, thanks for your home enquiries over the past year. As it is that time of the year again, I’ve given you all a Christmas ‘gift’. The sketch here is the most basic of home designs that have been constructed here and elsewhere in the world. This layout, as one can imagine, can be modified many times, to suit individual tastes.

The rooms shown are compact, but still adequate for a young family. Bedroom three for instance, can be converted to an en-suite and closet to the main bedroom. The single toilet can be done away with and through it, a passageway to later additions.
The roof can have a higher pitched attic roof added. The roof can initially be modified to a dozen or more styles, to give the house a different style and character. If the house seems too compact, simply add on another metre or two, lengthwise and widthwise.

Increasing the size of any of the rooms does not necessarily add the same square metre cost to the home. Let me know how you would want to modify and restyle this basic home, and I’ll tell you how to go about saving at least 30% on the building cost of any conventional house. All these details will be featured with your final working drawings.

All the best, and a successful New Year to everyone.
